AWHO Housing Projects 2025: Complete Guide for Defence Personnel

Affordable and secure housing has always been a priority for defence personnel and their families. The Army Welfare Housing Organisation (AWHO) plays a significant role in making this a reality. Established in 1978, AWHO functions under the control of the Adjutant General of the Indian Army, working on a self-financing, no-profit-no-loss basis. Its mission is to provide reliable housing solutions to serving and retired Army personnel, including their widows and dependents.

As of 2025, AWHO has launched several key housing projects, offering a golden opportunity for eligible individuals to own quality homes at reasonable prices.

What is AWHO?

AWHO is an initiative designed to develop and allot residential flats and plots exclusively for Army personnel and their families. It operates across India and has already completed 79 housing schemes in 41 cities, benefiting over 34,000 Army families.

The organization is known for its transparent procedures, dedicated housing schemes, and long-term commitment to the welfare of the defence community.

Who is Eligible?

The following categories are eligible to apply for AWHO housing schemes:

  • Serving Army personnel

  • Retired Army personnel

  • Widows of Army personnel

  • Parents receiving a family pension from the Army

Special preferences are often given to war widows, gallantry award winners, and next of kin of martyrs. The focus is to extend housing benefits to those who have served the nation or their families who continue their legacy.
